Future generations depend on how we vote in 2020
Today, humanity is at a crossroads regarding the future. Do all generations work together in solving our fatal threat or do we end up in the dustbin of history? We still have a choice.
Climate change is evolving at a rate of creating an existential threat to 99% of all life on Earth!
In the past, in fact as recently as 11/4/2016, world leaders used diplomacy to create the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
- Paris Agreement On Climate Change – In force 11/4/16. 13 nations have not ratified.
2019 – UN Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change report states that CLIMATE CHANGE will be IRREVERSIBLE by 2030!!!
Yet with a different report that give us the best chances of escaping irreversible damage, (66% over 50% with the current IPCC report) - we had 10 years in January of 2018. In September of 2019, it was determined that we've polluted more than was estimated. We're now estimated to have 8.5 years left!
So that's only 8.5 - 10 years before:
- Shifting Weather Patterns Threaten Food Production
- Rising Sea Levels Increase The Risk Of Catastrophic Flooding
Of all of Humanity's Fatal Threats, Climate Change is the one that's solidifying the generation gaps - bringing youth and seniors together towards a common cause... and for good reason. Climate Change affects our entire planet, which affects all living things on it. According to the United Nations: "From shifting weather patterns that threaten food production, to rising sea levels that increase the risk of catastrophic flooding, the impacts of climate change are global in scope and unprecedented in scale." Not to mention, what happens AFTER global warming according to Nature.com! We need to act now and start reversing the damage before it's too late!
Activists like Greta Thunberg, age 16 - whom Time named among "Next Generation Leaders" and former U.S. Vice President, Al Gore - age 71 agree that we can, and do need to do something.
"You say you hear us, and that you understand the urgency. But no matter how sad, and angry I am, I do not want to believe that. Because if you really understood the situation, and still kept on failing to act, then you would be evil, and that I refuse to believe."
"Solutions to the climate crisis are within reach..."
The solution that worked in the past was diplomacy. In 2016, International Opponents came together to create the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Today lawmakers at all levels of government around the world can do better! Today lawmakers can come together to create laws that being climate change into reality. Today lawmakers, together with national mobilizations, can create laws to limit climate change to less than 1.5C by 2028.
What can you do as a Citizen?
- Agree to vote climate
- Share with your friends, family, and social media contacts. Encourage them to vote climate.
- Limit Climate Change To Less Than 1.5°C. before 2028 by voting for lawmakers who do the following:
